The Hawkensville Development

Hawkinsville Salt Dome Development

Property Location: The property is located near the intersection of the Brazoria & Matagorda county line and Texas Highway 2611 between Lake Jackson and Sargent.  The property contains about 2000 continous acres in both counties.  About one half of the volume of the Hawkinsville salt dome lies beneath this property in Matagorda county.  This salt dome has been drilled for various reasons since the 1930's and has established the dome as containing oil & gas and confirming caprock and salt tops in several wells.  In Brazoria county the property is immediately adjacent to the  federal San Benard National Refuge where several gas condensate wells are currently producing.

Ownership: The  Estate offers a clear title to the surface and mineral interest in the property.  The owners are organized and motivated to create conditions favorable for a developer to manage their risk and opportunity within a resonable period of time.

Proposal: The Estate is offering free access to the surface and mineral interest in the property for an initial period of time necessary to explore and evaluate the viability of the Hawkinsville salt dome to create salt caverns to be used for natural gas storage.  Various options will be offered to provide for minimal cost until a commercial strorage project has been established.

Natural Gas Storage

Natural Gas Storage Project

Avaliable to a developer is a large surface area for facilities and a salt volume with sufficient depth for the creation of natural gas storage.  With capacity to develop two to four caverns a developer could plan for over 20 Bcf working gas volume and 800 MMcfpd delivery rate.  Nearby is access to a large pipline infrastructure, operating oil & gas storage facilities and the Freeport LNG and SPR facilities.  In Brazoria county and only several miles away from the Hawkinsville Salt Dome are four large operating salt dome projects and many different piplines move gas up & down the Texas Gulf Coast.  The proximity of the Hawkinsviulle Salt Dome to a very dynamic gas delivery network could provide a storage operator with many different ways to create revenues servicing the gas industry's needs.

Oil & Gas Development

Hawkinsville oil and gas exploration and development

A piercement salt dome structure with proven oil & gas accumulation and production.  3D seismic acquisition is necessary to define the salt dome dimensions and to identify oil & gas drilling prospects.  Offset drilling locations to oil & gas discoveries made in the 1930's and 1970's could be developed quickly.  These discoveries were between 4,000 feet and 6,000 feet nearby or on top of the salt dome.  Adjacent to the property in Brazoria county, Santos is producing gas-condensate below 10,000 feet from the Frio.  Over the years several wells have been completed and flowed oil and gas, but for various reasons have never been commercially developed.
